The team at Spooky Doorway, based out of Ireland, are looking to raise $35,000 / €35,000 / £31,100 with the campaign lasting until October 12th. As for platform availability, the game is expected to ship onto the PC, iOS, Mac, Linux and the Nintendo Switch sometime early in 2020.
Like the original, The Darkside Detective Season 2 will offer a point and click gameplay and will come with six cases at launch. Each case will offer somewhere in the region of 45 minutes of playtime and plenty of “adventuring fun, quips, clicks and devilish tricks.” If you haven’t played the original, you can pick up the first two cases for free via this link here.
Players follow the story of Detective McQueen and Police Chief Dooley as they investigate a number of strange incidents from the supernatural, to the occult and twenty-four hour diners.
So why the Kickstarer?
“The Darkside Detective: Season 1 made us some cash, but a lot of that went into porting the game and making new content for it,” Spooky Doorway went on. “More is being invested into further ports and localization of Season 1. And, as we made Season 1 with no budget, we had some debts to clear.
“We do, however, have some money left over, which is going into Darkside Season 2. But games aren’t cheap to make and we need a little help to bulk out what we have. Also, this Kickstarter will give us an idea of how much interest there is in a Season 2.”
