With Gamescom well underway, here’s our run down of some of the best looking indie games to be found on the shop floor. So without further ado, lets get cracking with the list of 8 indie games you should think about adding to your ones to watch list.
Aeon Must Die
Aeon Must Die is so darn beautiful to look and comes at you like an anime come to life. Utilizing a breakneck risk-reward tactical fighting gameplay mechanic that’s been called a tie in between games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum and Street Fighter 2, this upcoming game offers one of the most stylish visuals we’ve seen within an indie game in years.
Sadly the trailer to Lost Ember is a tad old and yet it’s certainly enough for us to want to see more. In Lost Ember, players will explore a breathtakingly beautiful world that nature has claimed back from mankind. As a wolf with the power to inhabit and control other animals and with a trusted companion at your side, you’ll discover ruins of long forgotten civilizations and ancient cultures that tell a story of hope, loss, ambition and failure.
Coming from Herobeat Studios and based in Barcelona, Endling sees you play as the last fox on Earth as you try to look after your three cubs in this 3D side scrolling survival game that’s coming to PC and consoles.
The Gardens Between
The Gardens Between is an adventure puzzle game where you manipulate time to guide two best friends through a surreal world of mysterious garden islands. Designed as an homage to the enduring power of friendship, The Gardens Between places you in control of not the characters themselves, but the force which will change and shape their relationship: time. The Gardens Between launches 20th September 2018 on PC, Switch and PS4.
My Memory of Us
My Memory of Us is a reminiscence of a friendship between a boy and a girl. A friendship made during tough times. Times of terror, pain, and exclusion in a world where people were forced to live in two artificially detached worlds. My Memory of Us launches this October onto the PC.
Coming to the PC, PS4 and Xbox, Atone is a 2D narrative adventure that weaves a tale of fantasy and Norse mythology with stunning visuals and compelling story. Spread over four chapters, follow Estra’s story as she forges a path through this wild world on a journey to uncover the truth about her father’s death.
Neo Cab is an emotional survival game with a strong narrative focus. Play as Lina, one of the last human rideshare drivers in a near-future, AI-driven world. Use the Neo Cab app to navigate the city, choose your passengers, and engage with them to learn their stories – and uncover the truth about your own.
Felix the Reaper
A firm favorite of ours here at Get Indie Gaming, Felix the Reaper is a 3D shadow manipulation puzzle adventure about making people die. Moving amongst the shadows, Felix can manipulate the events in human lifes. He does so according to the Plans of Death issued by The Ministry of Death. All this because he thinks it will bring him to meet Betty The Maiden, with whom he has fallen in love. You can find an interview with the studio lead here.
