The first gameplay trailer for Spelunkey 2, the follow up to many peoples 2013 GOTY dropped yesterday together with a new interview with its creator over on the Playstation Blog.
As perhaps could be expected, it looks very much like the original game. This, according to the creator is intentional. Derek Yu says in the interview “My opinion about sequels is that they are extensions of the previous games, so I want fans of Spelunky to jump in and feel like they’re playing a continuation, both story wise and mechanically,”
Besides a host of new characters, enemies and other items to look forward to, Spelunkey 2 will use a new set of liquid physics. Lava, water and others will feature within levels as both something to be wary off and also something for the player to use to their advantage.
Spelunkey 2 is headed to PAX West this weekend and anyone going there will be able to get some hands on play time. If you’re headed to PAX West this weekend and get a chance to play, be sure to let us know what you think of this long waited squeal.
