The folks at Route 59 games have dropped a brand new trailer and rough launch date for their forthcoming visual novel, Necrobarista, a game that’s coming to PC, the Switch with a PS4 version having now been added to the roster.
We featured Necrobarista in one of our indie games to watch out for in 2018 and while we got the launch timeframe a little bit wrong, it’s awesome news to hear more from this 3D point and click adventure.
Set within a mysterious Cafe based out of Melbourne Australia, the dead have come back for one further night and one last cup of coffee. Necorbarista promises a highly stylised cinematic visual novel with a look and feel inspired by anime aesthetics. Players are tasked to make time and sit while enjoying a coffee with a host of interesting characters both alive and dead within dynamically shot story vignettes.
“Necrobarista is a fresh new take on the visual novel,” said Route 59 Games lead designer Kevin Chen. “After spending the past few years cultivating this robust blend of narrative elements, we look forward to sharing the fruits of our efforts with players when we launch next year and are happy to announce our friends in the PlayStation community can come along on this ride.”
The trailer sets things up rather nicely for this adventure game hybrid although its somewhat lacking in showcasing much in the way of gameplay elements. Of course, with a launch out in 2019, there’s plenty of time for Route 59 to show us more of this closer to launch.
