505 studios are to publish the first game from Typhoon Studios, co-founded by Alex Hutchinson, the Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed Creative Director.
While the full details of the project are under wraps it will be for multiple platforms and will “let players drive the action”, playing into Typhoon’s focus on “intertwined [gameplay] systems” and collaborative play. That said, we do know a little of what it won’t be. It won’t have long cinematic sequences or sweeping narratives where players press buttons in between. It won’t have loot boxes. It won’t be only multiplayer and Hutchinson has already said, “I can guarantee it’s not a battle royale game.”
“As a smaller independent studio, finding partners who will support our creative vision by giving us the freedom to build our game our way is a top priority,” said Hutchinson.
“505 Games not only provides us that creative control, they offer deep support from a partner who really understands how to elevate indie games and bring out the best in the studios they team up with. Their track record speaks for itself.”
505 Games president Neil Ralley went on: “We’ve been steadily expanding our portfolio over the last few years by identifying and partnering with unique indie studios poised to make fantastic quality game. Once we saw the project Alex [and] the team at Typhoon Studios is developing, we jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. We’re always on the hunt for creative, innovative games and developers and this one certainly fits the bill perfectly. We look forward to helping Typhoon Studios bring their exciting vision to life.”
